Chapter 4

Jayde answered her phone, confused as why Kendyl was calling her and it hadn't even been a half hour since she dropped her best friend off at the mysterious new guy's house.
He better not of hurt her! Jayde though angrily as she listened to Kendyl's explanation why she was calling. Jayde could tell she was trying hard not to cry.
"What do you mean he 'kicked you out'?" Jayde asked as Kendyl explained more. He said he had 'plans to go out with Jasper'.
"Who the hell is Jasper?" Jayde hissed angrily. "Why would he make plans with you and than say he has other plans with someone else?" I don't know! Was Kendyl's reply. Just, please hurry, I'll start to walk, I don't want to be anywhere near this place right now!
"Okay," Jayde said and hung up.

Jayde hurried outside, remembering her jacket in time as it began to rain. She cursed as she got in her jeep. She had to hurry, Kendyl was walking home and she didn't have a jacket.
She swerved around the corners, keeping the speed limit but her hands gripped the steering wheel with agitation.
As she turned the corner she spotted Kendyl walking, holding her binder close. She was dripping wet, her white paints had mud splatters from the puddles and her blue shirt seemed black, as it was drenched with the rain water.
She pulled over and opened the door. As Kendyl climbed in Jayde took off her sweater and handed it to her.
"Thanks," Kendyl said as she wrapped Jayde's warm jacket around herself. She knew Jayde didn't care that she was getting her car wet, she only cared that she was safe.
"You can sleepover if you want," Jayde suggested.
"No, I-I think I-I'm just going to t-take a warm s-shower and than s-s-sleep," Kendyl managed to stutter out.
Jayde scrunched her eyebrows together. A look she always made when she was worried.
"Oh alright, I'll drop you off at your house. Call me when your done your shower, okay?" Jayde asked as she continued driving.
"Okay."
The rest of the drive home was silent beside the squeak of the wiper blades as the rain was wiped away.
As Jayde pulled into the driveway of Kendyl's house, Kendyl got out silently, only muttering a "Good-bye and thank you," when she took of Jayde's sweater and handed it to her.
"Keep it," Jayde laughed lightly and waved good bye to her best friend as she pulled out of the driveway and onto the road.

When Jayde arrived home her front door was unlocked.
I swear I locked it! She thought as she walked in cautiously and scanned the room. It looked okay.
She walked deeper into her house until she reached the kitchen.
Everything seemed in place.
Jayde turned around to check up stairs but a shadow in the corner of her eye made her pause. She whipped around so she faced her dining room and spotted the stunning figure of a brunette with blonde highlights. "How'd you get in hear?" Jayde demanded, her voice strong but her eyes showing her fear.
"Oh silly, Jayde. I'm surprised it isn't obvious," the girl's voice was sweet as she walked forward. Suddenly the moonlight hit the girl and the light reflected off of the girl's open mouth showing a set of fangs.
The girl's eyes darkened as she lunged forward, for Jayde's neck. Meeting success as she felt her fangs puncture flesh.
The only thing Jayde remembered was a sharp pain as she blacked out.
